Hi, I’m JoAnn (she/her). I’m the President of Shelby Pride! I have a lot of experience organizing events, directing groups, business related stuff, and leading teams and meetings. I have a 10 year old that I usually tote around with me. I’m very involved with the community in many ways, and I’m excited to continue the legacy of Shelby Pride!

I'm a data analyst for Wake Forest University, with a house full of animals and a love for my community. I moved to Shelby over a year ago and have met so many wonderful people, many of whom are in Shelby Pride. I'm excited to build community partnerships, grow the SP group, and connect with the LGBTQ+ folks of Shelby.

Hi, I’m Jenni! I’m currently a stay at home mom, studying to become an actuary! I spend my days playing with my one year old son and chasing my three year old daughter. My spouse, Trey, is a librarian in Kings Mountain. When we have free time, we occasionally manage to squeeze in a board game or a trip to the theatre.

HI, I’m Marianne Luedeman! I’m a 22-year-old senior journalism student at Gardner-Webb University. More importantly, I’m a trans woman and a lesbian who has a passion for working with and for the LGBTQ+ community. Using the skills I’ve gained through my degree and lived experience, I want nothing more than to share our stories, empower our people, and document the lives of the queer community that has helped me bloom into the woman I am today.

Hi my name is Kaly Perez and I’m a bi-sexual social worker in the community! I got my BSW and MSW from Florida State University. Unfortunately for my bank account, I love school so one of my big goals is to start my Doctorates later on this year! I’m originally from Hickory, NC but lived in Florida for over 10. I moved back to NC in 2021 with my husband Marcanthony. I’m extremely passionate about community building and mutual aid, and one of my goals is to foster that within my local pride group. One of my biggest motivators in being more involved in the community is my sister, who started her journey of transitioning in Florida last year. While we are both women of color, I acknowledge the privilege I have and the struggles she faces that I never will. My role as a social worker is heavily based in advocacy and I want to extend those tools in my own personal life. Thank y’all so much for having me!
